57 national parks in Indonesia: wildlife and entry fees

All 57 national parks in Indonesia by island, from official KSDAE data: area, year established, the wildlife they protect, entry ticket classes and fees (PP 36/2024), and the Komodo visitor quota.

Indonesia has 57 national parks according to the official list of the Forestry Ministry's Directorate General of KSDAE, covering about 18 million hectares according to each park's official profile. The often-quoted figure of 54 is out of date: the three newest are Moyo Satonda (2022), Mutis Timau (2024) and Mamberamo Foja (2024). 14 of them include marine areas.

How much does it cost to enter a national park?

Entry fees are set by Government Regulation 36/2024 (in force since 30 October 2024). Each park, or each of its entry gates, is placed in class 1, 2 or 3 by Forestry Minister Regulation 17/2025. On public holidays, collective leave days and religious holidays, domestic visitors and student groups pay 150% of the normal fee; foreign fees do not rise.

Komodo National Park visitor quota

  • From 1 April 2026, visits to Padar, Rinca and Komodo islands and 23 nearby dive sites are capped at 1,000 people a day, or about 365,000 a year (Forestry Ministry press release SP.115/HKLN/04/2026).
  • The Manggarai Barat regency government says the quota is divided between land and marine zones.
  • On 24 April 2026 the Forestry Ministry said the annual quota would be reviewed. According to the deputy minister, the daily quota had already been raised to 1,100–1,300 on eight days between 1 and 22 April.
  • Media reported a Komodo National Park notice dated 22 September 2026 setting a daily quota of about 500 for September to December after the annual quota ran out in August.
