Chattering lory and 57 other seized animals sent home to North Maluku

Thirty-five chattering lory parrots and 23 other wild animals seized or found at a ferry port have been sent back to North Maluku, where most of them come from, by the North Sulawesi conservation agency (BKSDA Sulut), whose head described the operation on Monday 28 September 2026.

Komodo National Park quota: 2026 cap used up, 500 visitors a day

The Komodo National Park quota for 2026, 365,000 visits, was used up by August, so the park authority (Balai Taman Nasional Komodo) has set a daily quota of 500 visitors, reviewed periodically, for September to December 2026 under a notice signed on 22 September 2026.

Sumatran elephant Diego, a 17-year-old tame male, died at the Minas Elephant Training Centre (PLG Minas) in Siak Regency, Riau, at midday on 16 September 2026 after several days of intensive care by vets from the Riau conservation agency (BBKSDA Riau).
