FAO describes urban forests as varied spaces with different owners and functions. Fragmentation makes connections between green areas an important consideration.
Design for the place
Locally native plants can support local biodiversity. Tree choices also need to account for roots, drainage, utilities, and public safety.
Share the space
Manage food waste and rubbish carefully. Observe wildlife from a distance; avoid feeding or animal releases as educational activities.
Start with observation
Record habitat, time, and observed behaviour from safety. If an animal is injured or trapped, use the appropriate help route.
