BAWA describes animal welfare programmes spanning rescue, care, sterilisation, and community education in Bali.
Understanding its work
Its website offers adoption and foster pathways for animals in its care. Contact the team to discuss an animal’s needs, your home, and placement requirements.
Before you contact
Use the official website to choose the appropriate contact route. Explain your purpose, location, and needs; confirm capacity before travelling or handing over an animal. Inclusion does not establish a partnership or funding recommendation.

- Sterilisation (Animal Health Days) ↗ — Pop-up village clinics around Bali offering free sterilisation of stray and owned dogs and cats, alongside government-supplied rabies vaccination; the organisation reports around 6,000 sterilisations a year.
- Rabies Eradication ↗ — Since the 2008 rabies outbreak, BAWA has pushed dog vaccination and sterilisation instead of culling and keeps working with the government towards a rabies-free Bali.
- Program Dharma ↗ — A village-based One Health initiative with Udayana University that trains village leaders to survey and vaccinate dogs; it has also helped bring in village regulations banning the dog meat trade.
