Volunteering for Animals

Useful volunteering starts with an organisation’s needs and the skills you bring.

Choose your contribution

Education, translation, administration, design, supporter outreach, and habitat work can be as valuable as direct care. Prepare a short offer stating your skills, time, languages, and location.

Check the role and supervision

Ask about duties, training, supervision, costs, and safety arrangements. Avoid programmes whose main attraction is close contact with wildlife.

Apply through the organisation

WWF-Indonesia says volunteering opportunities are announced periodically. Cikananga also distinguishes volunteering and internships; do not assume applications are always open.

Leave something useful

Agree on a useful handover, such as approved educational material or work documentation. Respect data confidentiality, sensitive locations, and photography permissions.
