IUCN defines Extinct (EX) as leaving no reasonable doubt that the last individual has died. The Javan tiger assessment identifies hunting and the loss of forest and prey as causes of its extinction. This list also includes Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct), which must be distinguished from EX.
